ROBERT BROWN
Robert "Bob" Lee Brown
Robert "Bob" Lee Brown, 70, passed away peacefully in his home in Santa Clarita, CA on May 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born in Colorado Springs, CO to Russell and Marjorie Arlene (Weber) Brown, Bob was the second of four children. He spent his early years in Colorado Springs until his family relocated to Santa Monica, CA, where he later graduated from Venice High School.
On September 29, 1979, Bob married his beloved Marjorie "Margie" Mayer, beginning a 45 year journey together that blessed them with two children, Christopher and Jennifer.
For 40 years, Bob served loyally at Rayne Water Systems throughout Southern California, embodying the dedication and work ethic that defined his character. But those who knew Bob understood that his true gifts extended far beyond his professional life.
Bob possessed an extraordinary ability to brighten any room with his infectious smile and hearty laugh. While he and Margie often cherished their quiet time at home together, it was in social settings where many saw Bob's special gift for connection. When out at restaurants, on family vacations, or simply around town, his warmth was magnetic. A natural conversationalist, he could transform strangers into friends within minutes, whether chatting with fellow sports fans or engaging in friendly banter with restaurant staff.
A man of quiet faith, Bob maintained a deeply personal relationship with God that he held sacred throughout his life. Though private about his spiritual journey, those closest to him knew of his early aspirations when he attended school to become a pastor in his younger years. His diagnosis with Parkinson's disease became a turning point that reinvigorated his spiritual connection, as he began to express a renewed desire to reconnect with the church.
He was a walking encyclopedia of historical facts and trivia, always ready to share his fascinating insights from the History Channel. The remarkable personal growth he demonstrated, particularly in his final decade, revealed the depth of his character and resilience in the face of health challenges.
Sports played a significant role in Bob's life, with his loyal devotion to the LA Rams, Notre Dame college football, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Anyone who watched a game with Bob knew it was more than casual entertainment—it was a heartfelt experience complete with animated commentary directed at the television and genuine emotional investment in the outcome. Watching the game became cherished moments of connection, particularly with his son Chris and grandson Jake, creating bonds and memories that transcended the sports themselves.
Bob's role as "Grandpa" to Olivia and Jacob brought him immeasurable joy, and his face would light up whenever he spoke about both of his grandchildren, who were truly the apples of his eye. His pride in his daughter Jennifer's academic achievements knew no bounds. Though he may never have fully recognized his own intellectual gifts, he beamed with joy at Jennifer's pursuit of graduate studies and her path to becoming a psychotherapist.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Eugene, his younger sister Ethel, and his nieces Roseanna and Christina. He is survived by his wife Margie; daughter Jennifer; son Christopher, his wife Catherine and their children Olivia and Jacob; in-laws Jerry and Emily Mayer; brothers-in-law Michael (Meri) and Stephen (Julie); nephews Ben and Eli; brother Ken of Hot Springs, AR; and nephews Michael and James.
Bob's journey through life, especially in his later years, was a testament to his character—ever evolving, growing, and deepening in wisdom despite the challenges of his illness. His presence, his warmth, and his spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
