IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha
McCaine
December 13, 1957 – June 22, 2025
Martha Gail McCaine, a radiant spirit and cherished wife and mother, departed this world on June 22, 2025, in Palo Alto, CA, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born on December 13, 1957, Martha was a beacon of light to all who had the honor of knowing her. She brought warmth, laughter, and an infectious energy that could fill any room, leaving a legacy of joy in her wake.
Her careers as first a certified public accountant (where she met her husband John Jinishian!), then an investment sales associate, and later a high yield securities analyst on Wall Street marked the many paths she would tread throughout her life, yet her true calling unfolded in the love she shared with family and friends. It was there she excelled, always making time for those who mattered most. A proud graduate of the University of Texas (BS) and Columbia University (MBA), she exemplified strength and determination, all throughout her life.
Martha’s personality was a canvas painted with vibrant hues of compassion, humor, and creativity. She possessed a talent for making the unconventional feel right at home and embraced the ups and downs of life with open arms. Her laughter, which reverberated like music, won hearts instantly, and her spontaneous tap dancing brought smiles to faces near and far.
In her eyes, everything was a reason for joy—from mornings bathed in sunlight by the window to coffee brewed to perfection, dark chocolate or a late night cookie snack, and the gentle companionship of her beloved pets, Maui and Olive the cats, and Rico the dog(as well as dash, the tortoise, who liked to sit under her bed). Martha had an affinity for the whimsical; she adored the thrill of mystery novels and captivating shows, and her innate curiosity extended to celebrating different cultures and their stories. She was as much a child of wonder as she was a wise confidante, inspiring those around her with tales that stirred imagination and compassion.
Among her beloved family, Martha was a devoted daughter, sister, mom and wife. Her beautiful connection with her husband John was an embodiment of partnership—one that traversed the peaks and troughs of life with loyalty and love, and they were married close to 39 years! She graciously balanced her roles as a mother and wife and friend, ever ready to support daughters Zoe and Erin through their individual journeys. Martha also remained deeply connected to her own roots, embracing her mother, Dorothy, sister Mary, and brother James, in moments shared even during the most trying times.
We also would like to remember her late brother, Richard, as well as her father, Walter. May they rest in eternal peace.
The echoes of Martha’s spirit linger in the memories woven into every laugh, every comforting word, and every shared dance. She transformed hardships into opportunities for deeper connection; the tender moments in her final days spoke volumes of her resilience, love, and unwavering spirit. One particular memory remains etched in her daughter Zoe's heart—the last peaceful walk they took together, breathing in acceptance and grace.
Martha’s zest for life will be celebrated at her funeral service, set to take place on August 9, 2025, at the Swedenborgian Church of San Francisco, the very same church where she was married to John. This will be a place to gather, remember, and honor the warmth she so freely bestowed upon others.
Though Martha McCaine has left this physical realm, she continues to illuminate the lives of those she touched with her compassion, wisdom, and radiant spirit. The legacy of her love remains, an everlasting presence that whispers in the everyday sounds—the echoes of her laughter still dance in the hearts of the family and friends she adored. As we bid farewell, we hold tight to the unwavering truth that her love will endure, always.
